03 Reduce
Orbitkey is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.
Using recycled fabrics and sustainable leather in at least 50% of our new product range, and 80% of our product packaging, along with independent oversight by bodies such as the Leather Working Group.
Reducing our business flights by 25% per year, reducing our air freight by 40% per year (and moving to maritime shipping – the most carbon-efficient form of freight transport) and offsetting the rest by investing in climate neutral carbon credits.
Sustainability Story
At Orbitkey we are taking scalable steps to permanently reduce our carbon emissions. This year we will ensure that at least 50% of our new products will be made from LWG certified leather, while 80% of our packaging will be made from recyclable materials. We will also reduce our air freight by 40%. But we know this isn’t enough. That is why we will continue to improve our processes and further reduce our emissions every year. Explain why you decided to become climate neutral certified. We decided to become climate neutral certified because we understand it is our responsibility to measure and reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible. However, as hardware manufacturers we also understand that we will continue to consume a limited amount of energy and raw materials. That is why we need to offset the emissions we cannot reduce, in order to balance our emissions scale. The climate neutral carbon credit system allows us to do this by funding external projects to remove carbon emissions from the atmosphere to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint. Explain why your company is committed to climate change. At Orbitkey we believe in the power of organisation. We also believe in win-win outcomes. As a business we know we have the energy, appetite and ability to find cleaner, more sustainable ways of doing business. We also understand the power of business to shape culture. That is why we are committed to climate change. That is why we are committed to transparency and accountability practices. We want consumers to be able to make informed decisions about the businesses they choose to support.
