Sustainability Story

MANTRA launched to take a Stand for the Planet. We make low impact performance apparel as a part of our broader mission to connect people to nature so that they are inspired to protect it. Every product is inspired by nature and supports conservations efforts through our 1% for the Planet commitment. And all of our apparel is designed to achieve the lowest carbon footprint possible - recycled materials, low-impact colorization, ethical local production and biodegradable packaging are a few of our commitments. But every product has a footprint - no matter how it's made or what it's made from - so we're thrilled to be able to measure, offset and reduce our carbon footprint with this tribe of like-minded brands!

What is Climate Neutrality

A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.

This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :

Mantra achieved Climate Neutral Certification as part of 's certification process. 's measurement, offsetting and reduction plans fully account for Mantra's 2021 emissions

01 Measure

Mantra measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.

GHG Scope 1 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 1

Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.

0 tCO2e

GHG Scope 2 ?

5 tCO2e

GHG Scope 3 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 3

Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.

250 tCO2e

Total Emissions ?
Total Carbon Emissions

The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

255 tCO2e

02 Offset

Mantra invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Mantra to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.

Total Investment in Carbon Credits

03 Reduce

Mantra has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Mantra to emit fewer emissions in the future.

Mid Term Targets

Mantra has committed to reducing emissions by .

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Mid Term Targets

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Reduction Actions

Mantra is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.

Current Year Reduction Actions

01

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from the impact of the materials used in our primary product, the Performance Polo.

How We'll Reduce It

We will plan to evaluate where emissions from our material inputs can be reduced by evaluating and implementing sustainable alternatives to our primary source materials, fabric, and trims (buttons, tags, etc).

02

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions related to employee travel.

How We'll Reduce It

We will continue to operate remotely for team, customer, and supplier meetings. We will also seek to combine meetings requiring air travel into the same itinerary.

In Progress Reductions

01

25%

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce the physical waste at our factory

How We'll Reduce It

We will use fabric more efficiently. Currently, only ~70% of a roll of fabric is used (which is about industry standard). We want to be better than that, either by using scrap pieces for other products or by creating products more efficiently (eg 3D knit)

02

20%

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from virgin materials by making our products more circular.

How We'll Reduce It

We will launch end of life programs for our customers

03

95%

What We’re Reducing

Non-biodegradable, non-recyclable materials used in packaging

How We'll Reduce It

Transition all packaging materials to biodegradable AND recyclable materials (package, garment bag, inserts, label)

04

78%

What We’re Reducing

Air freight in upstream transportation

How We'll Reduce It

Reduce transport emissions by limiting air freight in supply chain (samples, prototypes, production runs)
