Sustainability Story

While helping our clients find more sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions, at Falcon we are also keen to do our bit. We recently retrofitted our office lighting and controls to voluntarily meet ASHRAE 90.1 standards including LED lighting throughout our facility. Additionally, we have implemented a 10KW photovoltaic solar array on a residence to provide an educational opportunity for our designers. We encourage staff to walk or cycle to work by having installed shower facilities and locked bicycle storage on our premises, and we participate in the annual GoByBike Week to encourage as many staff as possible to cycle to work.

What is Climate Neutrality

A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.

This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :

Falcon Engineering achieved Climate Neutral Certification as part of 's certification process. 's measurement, offsetting and reduction plans fully account for Falcon Engineering's 2021 emissions

01 Measure

Falcon Engineering measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.

GHG Scope 1 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 1

Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.

9 tCO2e

GHG Scope 2 ?

1 tCO2e

GHG Scope 3 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 3

Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.

160 tCO2e

Total Emissions ?
Total Carbon Emissions

The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

02 Offset

Falcon Engineering invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Falcon Engineering to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.

03 Reduce

Falcon Engineering has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Falcon Engineering to emit fewer emissions in the future.

Mid Term Targets

Falcon Engineering plans reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions 50% and Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030, based on 2021 emissions.

Falcon Engineering has committed to reducing emissions by .

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Reduction Actions

Falcon Engineering is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.

Current Year Reduction Actions

01

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from air and car business travel

How We'll Reduce It

We will write and implement a travel policy to standardize and regulate travel bookings. We will encourage staff to combine multiple projects per trip and reduce the number of in-person meetings by conducting virtual meetings.

02

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from employees commuting into the office.

How We'll Reduce It

We will be improving the bike storage area so that more staff can cycle to work and store their bike securely. We intend to introduce a bike-to-work incentive/sweepstake to encourage staff to walk, use public transport or cycle.

03

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from the use of paper contracts and couriers.

How We'll Reduce It

We have signed up to DocuSign to digitally send all our contracts in 2022. This will save paper and reduce emission by cutting the use of couriers to deliver the physical documents.
