Sustainability Story

At Anheuser-Busch, sustainability is not just related to our business, it is our business. Beer is a natural product and a healthy environment is a key ingredient in the brewing process. That's why, as the country's leading brewer, we are committed to making a meaningful impact by protecting the environment across our entire supply chain – from seed to sip – and inspiring our partners to do the same. That means doing our part to reduce the environmental impact of our brewing and logistics operations, including by investing in water conservation and improving energy efficiency across every aspect of our business.

What is Climate Neutrality

A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.

This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :

Bud Light NEXT achieved Climate Neutral Certification as part of 's certification process. 's measurement, offsetting and reduction plans fully account for Bud Light NEXT's 2021 emissions

01 Measure

Bud Light NEXT measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.

GHG Scope 1 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 1

Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.

334 tCO2e

GHG Scope 2 ?

0 tCO2e

GHG Scope 3 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 3

Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.

2650 tCO2e

Total Emissions ?
Total Carbon Emissions

The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

2,984 tCO2e

02 Offset

Bud Light NEXT invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Bud Light NEXT to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.

03 Reduce

Bud Light NEXT has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Bud Light NEXT to emit fewer emissions in the future.

Mid Term Targets

Bud Light NEXT plans to reduce emissions per hectolitre of beer from 67 kgCO2 in 2017 to 51.25 kgCO2 in 2025 (a 25% reduction).

Bud Light NEXT has committed to reducing 2017 emissions 25% by 2025.

Current Year Reduction Actions

01

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce the emissions from our glass bottles by increasing the recycled content.

How We'll Reduce It

We are sourcing more recycled cullet and requiring our glass suppliers to increase the recycled content of their bottles by 2.5% in 2022. Using more recycled content reduces the emissions generated in the manufacturing process.

02

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from transporting finished beer to retail.

How We'll Reduce It

We will replace 30 diesel trucks with alternative-fuel vehicles.
