Sustainability Story
What is Climate Neutrality
A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.
This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :
Whitewater Brewing achieved Climate Neutral Certification as part of 's certification process. 's measurement, offsetting and reduction plans fully account for Whitewater Brewing's 2021 emissions
01 Measure
Whitewater Brewing measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.
GHG Protocol Scope 1
Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.
15 tCO2e
GHG Protocol Scope 2
Emissions from electricity.
22 tCO2e
GHG Protocol Scope 3
Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.
860 tCO2e
Total Carbon Emissions
The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
897 tCO2e
02 Offset
Whitewater Brewing invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Whitewater Brewing to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.
Total Investment in Carbon Credits
$8,521.50
Whitewater Brewing's credits came from:
Avoided Deforestation ?
Avoided Deforestation
Projects that reduce the risk of deforestation in important forest ecosystems.
Wind ?
Wind
Projects that support wind energy generation in order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Industrial ?
Industrial
Project that capture or remove emissions from industrial processes.
Offset equivalency
For reference, reducing a footprint by 1000 tonnes is roughly equal to removing 230 passenger vehicles from the road for a year.

03 Reduce
Whitewater Brewing has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Whitewater Brewing to emit fewer emissions in the future.
Mid Term Targets
Whitewater Brewing has committed to reducing emissions by .
This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Reduction Actions
Whitewater Brewing is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.
Current Year Reduction Actions
01
What We’re Reducing
We plan to reduce emissions from our purchased goods and services, particularly our clothing and merchandise product lines.
How We'll Reduce It
We will plan to begin sourcing as much of our clothing and merchandise lines as possible from sustainable suppliers. We aim to have 50% or more of our clothing and merchandise to be sourced from sustainable sources by Q2 2023.
02
What We’re Reducing
We plan to reduce emissions from employee commuting.
How We'll Reduce It
We plan to introduce a ride share program by the end of 2022 and will immediately begin prioritizing remote meetings over in person for both internal and external parties.

What We’re Reducing
We plan to reduce emissions from freight.
How We'll Reduce It
We will audit & improve our ordering/purchasing habits to reduce our overall freight cost. E.g. ordering higher qty less often to reduce the number of deliveries.
02

What We’re Reducing
We plan to reduce single use plastics in our operations. The biggest impact will be moving from using shrink sleeves on our cans to using printed cans.
How We'll Reduce It
Over time we will switch existing brands from using plastic shrink sleeves to printed cans. This will require forecasting our production needs and placing orders far in advance. It will also require our can designs being suited for short run printing.
