Sustainability Story

Since our launch in 2019, sustainability has been a core tenent of Versed. We wanted to do skincare differently. Which meant, among other things, holding ourselves environmentally accountable. It started with our packaging, using recyclable and post-consumer recycled plastic and FSC-certified paper. And it quickly and naturally evolved to focus on the most important piece of sustainability: climate change. Our approach is climate-first. We created a climate action plan of reduce, rebalance, repeat that centers around that first point: reduction. Behind the scenes, our Ethical Working Group, made up of team members of all levels from six different departments, drives reduction initiatives like improving the impacts of our pack-out and shipping. It's because sustainability is not just fundamental to our brand but truly a shared passion of the people behind it that we've been able to make meaningful changes that'll help drive us all toward a future without warming. We bring our community into the process too with education not just on what we’re doing but on how they can take climate action in their own daily lives. Like many Climate Neutral Certified brands, the trust of and transparency with our community is critical to Versed. The Climate Neutral certification is both a symbol of our own dedication and of our commitment to our community.

What is Climate Neutrality

A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.

This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :

01 Measure

Versed measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.

GHG Scope 1 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 1

Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.

tCO2e

GHG Scope 2 ?

13 tCO2e

GHG Scope 3 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 3

Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.

9,782 tCO2e

Total Emissions ?
Total Carbon Emissions

The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

9,795 tCO2e

02 Offset

Versed invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Versed to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.

Total Investment in Carbon Credits

03 Reduce

Versed has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Versed to emit fewer emissions in the future.

Mid Term Targets

Versed has committed to reducing emissions by .

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Reduction Actions

Versed is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.

Current Year Reduction Actions

01

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce the emissions from our materials, specifically reducing our use of virgin plastic.

How We'll Reduce It

We will incorporate post-consumer materials into componentry for our new items and transition existing items to PCR.

02

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce our emissions from transportation used to transport our goods from our suppliers to our warehouses.

How We'll Reduce It

We are producing goods closer to our distribution centers, hiring a demand planning manager, and optimizing timelines with our suppliers and retailers to reduce our dependence on air freight.
