Other Sustainability Notes

Sunski was born on Kickstarter in 2012 out of a shared love for design and adventure. We knew from the very beginning that we wanted the environment to be core to the brand, so we joined 1% for the Planet on day one and have been donating to impactful environmental charities ever since. We also knew that we ultimately wanted to go well beyond donating money. In 2017, due to a lack of quality recycled material options, we set to work on the development of our own recycled polymer to use in our sunglasses frames. The process took over three years to complete, and we now proudly make all of our frames out of the resulting SuperLight recycled plastic. We have also developed new recycled packaging that is entirely free of single use plastic. To complement these sustainable material upgrades, we offer lens kits for all of sunglass designs. This allows customers to replace scratched lenses without throwing away perfectly good frames, thus substantially increasing product lifetime. When the opportunity to join Climate Neutral arose, it was a no-brainer for us. We see it as a perfect complement to the existing suite of sustainability efforts at Sunski, and one that we’ll be proud to share as the business grows.
