Sustainability Story

At Nomad, we are passionate about wild places, adventures, and unspoiled nature. We've grown a lot since our first Kickstarter in 2012, expanding our product range, our internal team, and our company goals. Along with all this company growth, our carbon footprint and impact on the places we love has grown too. So we've decided that a big part of our mission going forward is to reduce our impact while leading the way towards a more sustainable future. From offsetting our carbon footprint to removing single-use plastic in our packaging, we'll keep pushing to implement sustainable solutions that aid in safeguarding our planet's future.

What is Climate Neutrality

A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.

This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :

Nomad achieved Climate Neutral Certification as part of 's certification process. 's measurement, offsetting and reduction plans fully account for Nomad's 2021 emissions

01 Measure

Nomad measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.

GHG Scope 1 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 1

Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.

13 tCO2e

GHG Scope 2 ?

34 tCO2e

GHG Scope 3 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 3

Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.

5,389 tCO2e

Total Emissions ?
Total Carbon Emissions

The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

5,436 tCO2e

02 Offset

Nomad invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Nomad to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.

Total Investment in Carbon Credits

$49,000.00

03 Reduce

Nomad has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Nomad to emit fewer emissions in the future.

Mid Term Targets

Nomad has committed to reducing emissions by .

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Reduction Actions

Nomad is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.

Current Year Reduction Actions

01

What We’re Reducing

We plan to launch some new iPhone cases with at least 30-40% recycled plastic.

How We'll Reduce It

Working with our factories on new cases and practices and examining new samples.

02

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce employee commuting emissions by 15%.

How We'll Reduce It

We sponsored up all employees who live in Santa Barbara city for the city e-bike stations for the rest of the 2022 year. We plan on reducing our emissions commuting to work by 15% for the 2022 calendar year.

03

What We’re Reducing

We plan to use more recyclable or compostable poly mailers that use fewer emissions to be processed to make. In 2023 we plan to move at least 10% of our poly mailers to more sustainable options.

How We'll Reduce It

We are looking into options such as Boox, and sampling different recycled poly mailers.

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions from purchased electricity at our office.

How We'll Reduce It

We will enroll in a Green Rate Program with Edison

02

85%

What We’re Reducing

Reduce emissions from packaging and shipping materials by eliminating virgin plastics and virgin forest fibers from retail packaging and e-commerce shipping supplies.

How We'll Reduce It

We will opt for recycled paper or recycled plastic materials in packaging, remove plastic hangtags, switch to recycled paper or recycled plastic poly mailers.
