Other Sustainability Notes

Kickstarter committed to being a responsible steward of the environment in 2015 by writing it into our Public Benefit Corporation charter. We believe adhering to the Climate Neutral commitments are the baseline responsibility for all companies in the face of the climate crisis. As part of those commitments, we plan to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible over the next few years while offsets ensure we pay for our emissions as part of our business. Beyond reducing the footprint of our own operations, we believe we can have the largest impact by helping the thousands of companies and products that launch on Kickstarter every year become more sustainable. That is why we have partnered with the Environmental Defense Fund to provide Kickstarter creators with guides to sustainable practices for the development, manufacturing, and distribution of new products across our technology, design, and games verticals, while encouraging creators to make environmental commitments of their own. We’re excited for what Climate Neutral can mean for Kickstarter and the companies on our platform. This label broadcasts our environmental commitment and encourages consumers and businesses to take responsibility and action, especially when the government fails to do so.
