Sustainability Story

We are working to lay the foundation for a truly circular economy. Every plank of flooring we sell comes with a stamp on the back asking the future homeowner to contact us to recycle the product at the end of its lifecycle. We will arrange for the used flooring to be returned to us, crushed, and re-purposed into a new floor. In addition, we are developing new products that will be carbon positive. By relying on wood byproducts that are normally burned, we will be able to have a direct carbon positive impact in the manufacturing process. Sustainability is a core company value for us, and we believe we can accomplish it without sacrificing on quality or value.

What is Climate Neutrality

A state in which human activities result in no net effect on the climate system. Requires balancing of residual greenhouse gas emissions with reductions or removals. All Climate Neutral Certified brands must meet climate neutrality standards for measuring, offsetting, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions from making and delivering products and services.

This certification covers business activities and operations for the following brands :

Flooret achieved Climate Neutral Certification as part of 's certification process. 's measurement, offsetting and reduction plans fully account for Flooret's 2021 emissions

01 Measure

Flooret measured Scope 1, 2 and 3 cradle-to-customer emissions following categories and approaches established in the Climate Neutral standards.

GHG Scope 1 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 1

Emissions from energy used in buildings, fleets, and equipment.

0 tCO2e

GHG Scope 2 ?

81 tCO2e

GHG Scope 3 ?
GHG Protocol Scope 3

Emissions from raw materials, manufacturing, shipping, air travel, and other activities in the supply chain.

9,841 tCO2e

Total Emissions ?
Total Carbon Emissions

The sum of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.

9,921 tCO2e

02 Offset

Flooret invested in projects outside of their value chain to compensate for all of their measured carbon emissions. This step supports their climate neutrality designation, and enables Flooret to take responsibility for historical emissions that can’t be reduced.

Total Investment in Carbon Credits

$107,924

03 Reduce

Flooret has set targets and identified actions to reduce their emissions from operations and their supply chain. These actions will enable Flooret to emit fewer emissions in the future.

Mid Term Targets

Flooret has committed to reducing emissions by .

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Mid Term Targets

This target is aligned with global trajectories to limit climate warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Reduction Actions

Flooret is implementing a Reduction Action Plan to reduce emissions from within its own operations and supply chain.

Current Year Reduction Actions

01

What We’re Reducing

Reduce emissions from PVC based products

How We'll Reduce It

Launching a wood based product in April 2022 which is lighter and produces fewer emissions. 2. Evaluating a Light SPC product that is 25% lighter than regular PVC which lowers the transportation cost, directly reducing emission.

02

What We’re Reducing

We plan to reduce emissions by partner with either a domestic or close shore manufacturer

How We'll Reduce It

Talking with a US based manufacturer and Canada based manufacturer

In Progress Reductions

01

80%

What We’re Reducing

Full launch of wood based product.

How We'll Reduce It

Our new wood product is made from FSC 100% wood, and is primarily made from re-purposed saw-dust that is otherwise burned. By preventing this sawdust from being burned, there may even be a carbon positive outcome.

02

80%

What We’re Reducing

The electricity mix in the manufacturing of our products.

How We'll Reduce It

By shifting manufacturing away from China and Vietnam, which rely heavily on coal for power generation, and moving to Sweden, which relies almost entirely on hydro and nuclear power, we will see a big reduction in the impact of our energy consumption.

03

80%

What We’re Reducing

Product embodied energy

How We'll Reduce It

Launch a wood based product, which has a lower energy requirement to manufacture

04

85%

What We’re Reducing

Downstream shipping emissions

How We'll Reduce It

Ship to customers from closer fulfillment centers by optimizing inventory at warehouses
