We needed a space to talk about the hows and whys of our work. Now we have one. Thanks for checking it out.
Climate Neutral is well into our third year now.

While that time has gone in a few blinks of an eye, the world is oh-so-different than it was when we made a splashy launch at OR Summer Market back in '19.

Since then, people have moved in droves into the climate space. Climate tech funds have popped up by the dozens. Investors are tripling down to squeeze capital out of the hands of fossil fuel companies. A new administration in the U.S. is making climate a top policy priority. Thousands of companies and cities have made net-zero commitments.

Amidst it all, we've seen many new ventures take shape around the basic concept that sits at the heart of Climate Neutral:

that all companies need to measure, compensate for, and reduce their carbon emissions.

The growth of our ecosystem is a welcome change from the barren stretch of time that passed over the last decade with no measurable progress on climate. We're excited to have more people working on this opportunity to make progress against climate change.

On the other hand, with more voices in the space, we needed a good way to explain things from our point of view. After playing around with Medium posts and direct emails, it felt like time to launch our own little media enterprise. So here it is.

We'll mainly use this space to talk about our work in long form. It gives us a better way to be completely transparent about why we do what we do, and how we do it: our beliefs, our operations, our people, our ambitions for how our movement of Climate Neutral Certified companies can truly move the needle on carbon emissions.

Thanks for stopping by and being with us on this journey.

How We’re Evolving our Standard to Support the Climate Transition

Carbon Credits in 2024: Asset or Liability?

Every corporate sustainability leader who is now laying out a climate plan for 2024 or 2025 will wonder at some point: should I spend money on carbon credits?

Emission Factors and the Emissions Factor

Thousands of people around the world study emission factors full time, and their research improves the data so that we can better understand the impacts. We just finished updating the emission factor library in our measurement tools, an annual process that brings our datasets - tens of thousands of emission factors - up to date with the latest releases and scientific research.
